Play With This Too

Boneyard is a fictional character created by Play With This Too as part of their Lost Protectors series. He is an intergalactic heroic character and member of the Protectors.

Other third party Transformer homages to Generation 1 Grimlock include JustIToys Commander and Keith's Fantasy Club King Rex.

Development

The images of the weapons and an arm of Boneyard were tweeted out as a teaser by Play With This Too just before TFcon Chicago 2014.

Boneyard was revealed at TFcon Chicago 2014 where art was placed on display, and later is appeared in the Third Party Panel.[1]

In December 2014 Play With This Too released color images of Boneyard and his Tech Drone.

Boneyard, Wastelander and Wrecktifier were among the stretch goals for the unsuccessful 2015 Lost Protectors Kickstarter campaign. They were to be unlocked if the campaign raised at least $420,000.[2]

In June 2015 Play With This Too released renders of Boneyard online. They announced they would be doing a second Kickstarter with the characters of Boneyard, Jetstrike and Wastelander among the initial figures offered as rewards. The Tech Drones would likely be stretch goals.

In July 2015 Play With This Too asked on their Facebook page if Maqua should be one of the one of the 2 additional heads provided with Boneyard and Jetstrike.[3] They announced that the prototype of Boneyard would be on display at TFcon Canada 2015. The design for the Tech Drone would be more like Microns.

Boneyard is one of the ten initial figures available as a reward for the Boneyard & Jetstrike Action Figures Kickstarter campaign, which began in September 2015.[4]

Fictional biography

Protector Boneyard is an intergalactic hero and gladiator with a Tech Drone companion R-Turn. He was friends with Ancient Astronaut until his old friend was infected by an alien. He acts as a sage adviser to Astroblast, leader of the Protectors. This warrior has victoriously survived many battles and has traveled the cosmos to be on your toy shelf!

An ancient relic from a time long past, legend suggests he has competed in the galactic arenas since their inception. Some believe he was the fabled cosmic champion who survived the trials of Catastropheles to stand-alone against the Desolataur. Armed with nothing more than his enchanted Perdition Solacer, he ripped out the Desolataur’s heart, rising to victory and saving us all from the consuming darkness of the Null Miasma.

His legend inspired thousands of generations to take up arms against the Vampires Cosmic, Serpents of the Coiled Throne and the great Armadas of Granite. His armor was the basis for countless Aegis battle suits. His weapons were replicated by the greatest smiths ever known. His shield made from the head of his first opponent in the arena, the commanding Terrortops himself. His helmet plucked from the head of the mighty Testosterous.

Now he stands as the Guardian of the Gates to the arena. He alone passes judgment onto those who come to compete for the survival of freedom and life in our universe. Allowing only those with honor and purity of heart to step foot onto the same hallowed ground where the blood of a million warriors has been splattered by nefarious forces. To face him at the gates lacking the resolve of a god itself is to stare into the great abyss of bereavement. For only those worthy and righteous enough will he let pass.

He was a legend amongst present day Protectors. His true name and birthplace lost in the annals of time. We know him only as Boneyard. As the time for action falls upon us yet again he emerges once more to guide us with his wisdom, strength and courage. Through him our victory will be assured.

Favorite food: Poutine

The biography for Bearald mentions that Boneyard is very fond of Bearald, as his family crest includes imagery of fighting bears.

According to Jetstrike's biography Boneyard knows of Boneyard's ambitions but sees Jetstrike's skill and power grow with hope.
