An accomplished medical scientist, physician, researcher, author, poet, holding a Royal College of Physicians (London), American College of Physicians and New York Academy of Sciences Fellowships and a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bristol (England). With a strong commitment and remarkable expertise spanning over three decades, Tabish excels in University Planning, Medical Education, Scientific Research, and Healthcare Administration. He possesses an impressive portfolio of over 450 Scientific Research publications and have authored fourteen Books encompassing subjects like Health Policy, Planning, Management, Emergency Medicine, Medical Education, Social Sciences, and Literature. Additionally, he has taken on the role of Editor for numerous international medical journals and have been honored with 60 Awards recognizing their exceptional contributions to Healthcare, Higher Education, and Scientific Research.
Early Life and Education
Born in a highly educated family at Tilagam (Pattan) on March 30, 1957 and living in Sanat Nagar, Srinagar, located in Kashmir, India, Tabish has marked an impressive educational journey, obtaining qualifications such as MBBS, FRCP from London, FACP, FAMS FRCP (Edin), MD HA (AIIMS), FRIPH (England), FIMSA, MHSM (London) and Doctorate in Educational Leadership (USA). His Work
Pioneered contemporary approaches to designing curricula, bringing innovative techniques to curriculum development. he led the design and implementation of numerous graduate and postgraduate programs at premier medical universities such as SKIMS in Srinagar and Qassim University in KSA. These programs encompass MBBS. MD, M Sc. Nursing, B Sc. Nursing, as well as Technology Courses.
Integral in shaping the administrative and academic frameworks of diverse medical institutions, Tabish has provided extensive training to countless medical professionals, including doctors and nurses. The training covers a wide spectrum, from scientific research and recent advances to future trends in medical sciences, evidence-based medicine (EBM), evidence-based healthcare (EBHC), total quality management/continuous quality improvement (TQM/CQI), advanced techniques in specialized patient care, and emerging perspectives in healthcare. Moreover, his expertise extends to medical education, problem-based learning (PBL), Quality Improvement in higher academic institutions, and more.
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Conceptual Approach to Planning of a University Saudi Arabia from during 2007.
Advised establishing of Medical Colleges, 1000 bedded University Hospital, College of Allied Science Saudi Arabia, 2005-2007.
Established Regional Research Centre in Saudi Arabia, 2005-2007.
Played a key role in Curriculum Development at Qassim University Saudi Arabia from 2005 to 2007.
Established Disaster Management Programme and 100 bedded Accident & Emergency Department at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Srinagar (SKIMS), in 2000. His innovative and creative “Level System” is first of its kind in the world.
Represented India in “The World Health Forum” Selection of the participants was based on national stature, academic contribution, and international recognition. Nations were asked to nominate the very best people they have in the specified fields to gather and examine the issues related to their healthcare system. Dallas Texas USA, 1998.
He has been a member of the Panel for Hospital Planning Camp and Medical Care Services in New Delhi since 2000. Furthermore, he has held the position of a member of the International Hospital Federation in London since 1994. He has been a lifelong member of the Academy of Hospital Administration since 1990, as well as a member of the Governing Body and Regional Director of the Indian Society of Health (USA) since 1994. He also became a member of the Institute of Health Services Management in London in 1992. He was honoured with Membership of the New York Academy of Sciences in 1996 and a fellow of the Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene in England in the same year.
Moreover, he achieved the status of a fellow at the International Medical Sciences Academy in India in 1998, followed by becoming a fellow at the National Academy of Medical Sciences in New Delhi in 2003 and American College of Physicians (USA) in 2006. He was awarded fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in London (2002), as well as at the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh (2004).
ACADEMIC DISTINCTIONS
He has functioned as Chief of the SKIMS Hospital and Head of the Hospital Administration during 2009-2018.
During 2005-2007, he held the position of Professor of Medical Education/Family Medicine at Qassim University, Saudi Arabia.
He has held the position of a Visiting Professor at Qassim University in Saudi Arabia since 2007.
He has been associated with Solaiman Al Rajhi University in Saudi Arabia during 2007 at its conceptual level.
He has been an Assessor (Inspector) for the Medical Council of India since 2008 onwards.
Additionally, he has been involved as an Expert in the process of Faculty selection at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, and Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
He provides guidance in the selection process for Fellowship candidates of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), New Delhi since 2008.
He served as an External Examiner at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, since 2004 till 2017.
He has been an External Examiner for the National Board of Examinations, assessing candidates for the Diplomat National Board in New Delhi, since 2008
From 2009 to 2012, he held the position of Chairman of the Accident and Emergency Department at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in India.
He was the chairperson of the National Conference on Evidence-Based Health Care, a significant event attended by distinguished medical professionals from India, held on March 26-27, 2011, at SKICC Srinagar.
He took on the role of Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the National Conference on Recent Advances and Future Trends in Diabetes Care, hosted by Qassim University (Saudi Arabia) from May 22 to 24, 2007.
In December 2010, he was the esteemed Chief Guest at the Valedictory Function of the National Conference on Recent Advances in Technology and Patient Safety, an event organized by St. Thomas Hospital in Kerala, India.
He has been a member of the Advisory Board for Ram Bajaj Foundation Global University in Bikaner, Rajasthan, India, since 2014.
He delivered speeches, talks, lectures on current issues in Health Sciences in Europe, USA, Saudi Arabia and Indian higher academic institutions and hospitals since 1990 till date.
He chaired Plenary Sessions in Science Congress in 2017 held at SKICC, Srinagar
During 2005-2007, he took the initiative to organize several conferences, seminars and workshops in Saudi Arabia. The themes included subjects like Biomedical Waste Management at King Saud Hospital in Unaiza (Qassim), a Symposium focused on Total Quality Management in Health Care held at Ayun-ul-Jawa Hospital (Qassim), a Workshop on Research Methods for Clinicians hosted at King Fahad Specialist Hospital, another instance of the same Workshop at the same hospital, a Workshop on Assessment Methods in Undergraduate Medical Education conducted at the College of Medicine, Qassim University, and a Symposium on Evidence-Based Medicine held at King Fahad Specialist Hospital in Buraidah, Qassim.
Furthermore, in 2006, he organized a Workshop on "Research Methodology" at the College of Medicine, Qassim University. He also served as the coordinator for Continuous Medical Education (CME) activities such as Journal Clubs and Updates at the College of Medicine, Qassim University, in Saudi Arabia, spanning from 2005 to 2007. He played a coordinating role in Academic Programs and CME events, including Symposia, Workshops, and Seminars jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education for the Qassim Region in Saudi Arabia from 2005 to 2007.
Additionally, he extended his organizational efforts to India, where he orchestrated a series of great academic events. Notable among these was the Regional Conference on Health Care Management in the New Millennium, a gathering that took place at SKIMS in Srinagar in 2002. In 2004, he convened a Seminar on Quality Assurance in Health Care, again at SKIMS in Srinagar. Further back in 1991, he played a pivotal role in the organizing the International Conference on Health Care Management: Challenges and Response, which was held at AIIMS, New Delhi.
His leadership was evident in his role as the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the Regional Symposium on Lifestyle Diseases: Challenges and Response, hosted by King Fahad Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia in 2006.
He was also Chairman for the Organizing Committee of the National Conference on Emerging Perspectives & Future Trends in Nursing Care, held in Srinagar in September 2017.
Subsequently, he was the Chairperson of National Conference on Recent Advances & Future Trends in Hospital Administration, Srinagar, held during October 11 to 13, 2017
His influence extended globally as well. He served as a Committee Member and Keynote Speaker at the "Cardiology World Conference (CWC 2019)" held in Tokyo, Japan, from May 15 to 16, 2019. Additionally, he was invited to share his insights as a Speaker at the International Conference on Alzheimer’s and Dementia, themed "Worldwide Efforts to Find Better Ways to Treat Alzheimer’s and Dementia," held in London, UK, from July 22 to 24, 2019.
He received invitations that underscored his prominence in the field. Notably, he was welcomed as a vital Organizing Committee Member and Keynote Speaker at the "Global Summit on Clinical Nursing and Women's Health," centered around the theme of "Advanced Nursing for Trusted Care," held in Singapore on July 29-30, 2019. Further recognition came through his invitation as a Speaker to the CME and CPD accredited CNS Congress 2018, convened in Paris from November 12 to 14, 2018, in France.
His insights were also sought at the "Global Summit on Maternal and Child Healthcare," characterized by the theme "Caring for Every Woman and Baby: Education, Empowerment, and Health," a conference held in Bangkok, Thailand, from November 26 to 28, 2018. He assumed the role of a Keynote Speaker at the International Conference on Nursing Education & Practice 2018 in Las Vegas, USA, on November 26-27, 2018, where the theme was "Frontline Nurses: Integrating Clinical Informatics into Practice." Further, he was a Speaker at the 4th International Conference on Nursing Education and Research, taking place in Dubai, UAE, from December 3 to 5, 2018.
He was honored as a key participant at the AMMA Conference Center in Washington D.C., United States, from December 11 to 21, 2018. In keeping with his standing, he was extended an invitation as an Organizing Committee Member and Speaker for the "25th International Conference on Pediatric Cardiology and Health," held in Madrid, Spain, on April 22-23, 2019. These invitations underscored his influential presence within the global medical community.
