Olamide Subulade Alao-Akala was born July 1st, 1983, in Lagos, Nigeria. She is a Nigerian businesswoman with her core in agribusiness. She is an author, a motivational speaker who is passionate about building people, and the founder of UMèRA Farms.

Early Life and Education

Born into the family of late Otunba (Dr.) Adebayo Alao-Akala (Former Executive Governor of Oyo State), the earliest part of her life was spent in Lagos, studying at Home Science Association Ikoyi, for her Primary education, (graduated, 1992). Olamide proceeded to Federal Government Girls College in Oyo State (graduated, 1999).

She obtained a diploma in law at the University of Jos in 2002 and furthered to Bowen University in Iwo, Osun State, to pursue a BSc. in Sociology, graduating in 2007.

Career

Olamide started her career with Jane Jacobs (2009-2015) and TDB Global Ventures 2013-date.

UMéRA

Olamide, discovered her passion for agriculture while serving as the chairman of TDB Global Ventures with TDB farms as one of its subsidiaries. She later founded UMèRA Farms in 2020. The pride of UMèRA Farms, the Nutty Park Cashew Plantation sits on 5000 acres of land in Ogbomoso Nigeria, alongside the cattle park and poultry farm. UMéRA farm is strategically positioned to address the critical issue of global food insecurity, which is in line with sustainable development goals.

Philanthropy

CEO WOMEN: One of her deepest passions lies in empowering disadvantaged women and transforming them into successful entrepreneurs. This she does through "The CEO Women," Philanthropy which started in 2018 and has helped 30 rural women become entrepreneurs.

Africa Made for More Conference: As a John Maxwell Certified leadership consultant, she firmly believes that leadership principles have the power to catalyze personal and communal growth. She is dedicated to spreading this belief and imparting leadership skills to individuals across Nigeria. This has pushed her to founding UMèRA Business School in 2022, the school is positioned to nurture future entrepreneurs into successful business owners, and she also started an annual free skills acquisition program and UMèRA Boost Conference themed: Africa Made for More, which has graduated over 900 youths.
