Octus was first introduced as a member of the Triumverate, a group of Decepticons who ruled over Cybertron following Straxus' demise; his colleagues were Legonis and Seizer.

In Transformers: The AllSpark Almanac II, Octus was featured as the "alter-ego" of writer Jim Sorenson and had the ability to turn into a Mark III Travel Machine.
