Major Shafiqul Islam
Major Shafiqul Islam (retd.) (01 January 1981) is a Bangladeshi environmental engineer, researcher, construction entrepreneur and ready -mix concrete specialist.
The frontliner who is working dedicatedly to achieve a sustainable environment in Bangladesh. A person with keen sense of business, MAJOR MUHAMMAD SHAFIQUL ISLAM (RETIRED) has a vision in contributing the nation building process by promoting modern technologies in environmental and construction sectors. He comes from an ordinary and respected Muslim family of having no previous record of business.
He is the Managing Director of CrossCountry Construction Ltd. (CCCL), Managing Director of Charm Ltd., Proprietor of REVENCO, and Managing Director of Smart Industrial Solutions Ltd. (BISL).
Early Life and Background
Shafiq was born in Chandpur (Master Bari) on 1 January 1981. His father, Md. Abdur Rashid (1920– 1985), was a Govt. Officer of BCIC. His mother, Jahanara Begum (1930) is a homemaker, from the Chandpur.
Education
Major Shafiq started his schooling from Chittagong Steel Mills High School in 1985 at the age of 4. After the deceased of his father, he had to join 6 different schools to accomplished his Secondary School Certificate Exam. The Schools are:

He completed his Higher Secondary Certificate Exam from Chottogram College from Sience in 1997. He then admitted himself in the Institute of Forestry and Environment Science of Chottogram University in 1997-98 Session. He joined in Bangladesh Military Academy in 1999 and completed is Graduation from MBA in 2001. He earned his PGD in Environmental Engineering in 2014.
Career
MAJOR MUHAMMAD SHAFIQUL ISLAM (RETIRED) has started his carrier at the early stage of life as a Commissioned Officer of Bangladesh Army. After being graduated from Bangladesh Military Academy in 2001, he served long 14 years in this reputed Organization in different portfolios including United Nations Peace Keeping Operations in Ivory Coast and the Elite Force of Bangladesh (RAB). His colorful carrier of Military ended in 2013 with a voluntary retirement from the service. Henceforth, a new era of his life as an entrepreneur begins by forming REVENCO, a listed supplier and First Class Contractor of DGDP, MES, PWD, LGED and few more Government Organizations. He formed Charm Limited in collaboration with Malaysian and German partners in 2016 with a view to resolve the waste water issue of industries through a most scientific modern technology. As a Managing Director of Charm Limited, he could build the image of the Company as a trustworthy solution provider to its clients both Nationally and Internationally. His Company represents many reputed International Brands in Bangladesh, such as Mitsubishi Chemical Corporations, Daiki Axis, Sumitomo etc.
In pursuance of acquiring knowledge, MAJOR MUHAMMAD SHAFIQUL ISLAM (RETIRED) completed his MBA in 2008, various training and courses in Environmental Engineering from Japan, Germany and Thailand. In course of time, he could able to establish himself as business acumen. He also holds the key positions in few other reputed organizations, such as Director of Pioneer Group, Managing Director of GLX IT Solutions.
Major Shafiq is serving as Founder & President- Bangladesh Environment Association.
Personal Life
Major Shafiq is married and is the father of one daughter (Umaiza Fatiha Islam).
