Akinwole Omoboriowo II
Akinwole Omoboriowo II (born 15th March 1972) is a Nigerian entrepreneur,[1] Chairman, and CEO of Genesis Energy Group.[2][3][4][5] In Africa, Omoboriowo II is viewed as an Energy sector innovative leader, renowned for his strategic thinking and diverse expertise in infrastructure, business management, financial economics, and strategic leadership within the gas and power sectors. He is also called the silent achiever.[6]
Early life and education
Omoboriowo II holds a degree in Economics from the University of Jos-Nigeria, a post graduate diploma in Strategy and Innovation from the Oxford University Saïd Business School, a certificate in Electricity Pricing and Modelling from the London Business School, and a certificate in International Oil Trading and Shipping from the Oxford-Princeton College in the United Kingdom.[4][6] He is also a fellow of the Institutes of Management Consultants.[7]
Career
In 2015, Omoboriowo II was appointed as one of the board members for the African Utility Week and Clean Power Africa,[2] wherein he was identified as an industry expert in the energy and water sectors.[8] He was featured at The Global African Investment Summit in 2015,[9] The Global Thinkers Awards in 2017[3] and in CNBC Africa's episode of Focus on African Energy Week in 2021.[5]
His accomplishments include steering projects such as solar PV with battery storage, small hydro, energy efficiency initiatives, and small-scale LNG & LPG-fired power projects. These endeavors aim to replace environmentally unfriendly diesel oil, benefiting clients in Benin, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe.
Today, Omoboriowo II serves as an Expert Advisor at the Oxford University's SAID Business School and holds advisory roles in prestigious institutions like The Global Thinkers Forum (UK), African Energy Chamber (South Africa), and African Power & Energy Elites (South Africa). Notably, he was a former Advisory Board Member at SHELL Foundation (UK),[10] contributing insights towards shaping "the energy company of the future."[11]
