Akhila Anand is a talented singer, anchor, and dubbing artist from Trivandrum. She was born and raised in the city, where her father worked as a government school teacher, and her mother was employed in the Secretariat. Akhila has one older sister, and her family played a significant role in shaping her career.

Akhila developed a passion for music at an early age and started learning Carnatic music when she was just five years old. Her first guru was A. Saraswati Ammaal, and later, she was trained under Dr. S. Bhagyalakshmy. Alongside her music training, Akhila attended three government schools and went on to earn a degree in commerce.

Akhila began performing in small stages at the age of 14 and caught the attention of Devarajan Master, a renowned composer in the Malayalam film industry, through her mentor, Mr. Prakash. She then joined Devarajan Master's chorus group and got the opportunity to meet anchor Mala Parvaty, who recommended her for a TV show on Kairali TV. Akhila's anchoring career took off from there, and she became a popular face on various channels, including Asianet, Kairali, and Surya TV. She also worked as an MC for several live shows and made appearances on Doordarshan.

In 2004, Akhila got married, but it did not deter her career ambitions. She continued to work as an anchor and dubbing artist and took up a professional course in dubbing to further hone her skills. Akhila dubbed for many serials and a few movies.

In 2006, Akhila's talent as a singer caught the attention of director Jayaraj during the making of his movie, "By the People." Sunil Parameswaran, the scriptwriter of the movie "Ananthabhadram," introduced Akhila to Jayaraj, and he was impressed by her live singing. Jayaraj then introduced Akhila as a playback singer for the movie "Aswaroodan," which released in the same year. The song was a duet with Jassie Gift titled "Azhakalila Manja Charadile Poothali."

Early Life

Akhila Anand was born and brought up in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. Her father was a government school teacher, while her mother worked in the secretariat. She has an elder sister. At the age of 5, she started learning Carnatic music and had the privilege of training under renowned Gurus like A. Saraswati Ammaal and Dr. S. Bhagyalakshmy.

Akhila completed her schooling from three different government schools and later pursued a degree in commerce. At the age of 14, she started performing on a few small stages.

During her college days, she met Devarajan Master through Mr. Prakash, one of Devarajan Master's disciples, and joined his chorus group. While performing with Devarajan Master's chorus group, she met anchor Mala Parvaty, who suggested her to a TV channel, Kairali TV, for anchoring a show. This marked the beginning of Akhila's career as an anchor.

Akhila went on to anchor numerous TV shows for various channels like Asianet, Kairali, and Surya TV, and also hosted many live shows. She even did some shows for Doordarshan.

While participating in a musical show named "Sallapam" on Doordarshan, Akhila met Balachandra Menon, who was hosting the show. Impressed with her voice, Menon suggested her for some of his programs and even commented that her voice is suitable for dubbing. Taking his suggestion, Akhila underwent professional dubbing training and started her career as a dubbing artist, eventually working on several serials and a few movies.

In 2004, Akhila got married. Later, she met director Jayaraj through Sunil Parameswaran, the scriptwriter of the movie Ananthabhadram, during the production of "By the People." In 2006, she got an opportunity to meet Jayaraj again, who heard her live singing and noticed her potential as a playback singer. Jayaraj introduced her as a playback singer for the movie Aswaroodan in 2006, where she sang a duet song with Jassie Gift, called "Azhakalila Manja Charadile Poothali."

She went on to lend her voice to many movies Apart from anchoring, dubbing, and singing, Akhila has also acted in a movie named “mehfil” directed by Jayaraj.Her diverse talents and skills have made her a versatile artist in the Malayalam entertainment industry.

She sung a duet with Legendary Playback singer Yeahudas for the movie “four friends “,and she sung Duet for album song P jayachandran. She shared the stage on mega shows with legendary SP Balasubramaniam, Ks chithra, Sujatha mohan, Hariharan, Shankar mahadevan, MG Sreekumar, Unni menon,G venugopal, Anuradha sreeram, Naresh iyer, Haricharan, swetha mohan, Vijay yeshudas,Jassi gift, Madhubalakrishnan, Afsal, Vidhu pratap so on.


And she sung for to legendy music directors like Ousepachan sir , M Jayachandran, bijibal, Deepak dev, jassie gift ,jakes bejoy, rahul raj ,ishan dev, renjin raj and so on.


When Ks chithra turned into 40 years of her career, Akhila released a tribute for Chitra mam collaborating with Veena Maestro Rajesh vaidhya on 2018.

He did many shows which is uncountable shows in town and abroad , like Middle East countries, USA, European countries, African countries and Australia and so on.
