United Republic of Delvin: A New Sovereign State Emerges in the Pacific"

In a historic declaration on September 5, 2023, the United Republic of Delvin officially emerged as a sovereign state, marking a significant milestone in the Central Pacific Ocean. This newly formed nation, formerly known as Howland Island, is strategically located approximately 1,700 nautical miles southwest of Honolulu, almost equidistant between Hawaii and Australia.

The visionary behind this bold move is none other than the esteemed Great Professor Dr. Webiston Jokonya, who assumed the position of Founding Prime Minister. The head of state, President Irm. Prof. Dr. Jeremy Saffier, leads the nation alongside a dedicated team of ministers and officials.

Geographic and Environmental Overview:

Covering an area of 160 hectares, the United Republic of Delvin boasts a low-lying, nearly level, sandy, coral island surrounded by a narrow fringing reef. The climate is equatorial, characterized by scant rainfall, constant winds, and a blazing sun. One of the notable challenges faced by the nation is the absence of natural freshwater resources, requiring innovative solutions for sustainable development.

Key Infrastructure:

The international seaport, Port Howland, positioned on the southeast pole, serves as a vital gateway for trade and maritime activities. Nashville City, the largest urban center, is home to the prominent Amelia International Airport, facilitating international connections and fostering economic growth.

Economic Landscape and Natural Resources:

The United Republic of Delvin is endowed with natural resources such as guano, a valuable deposit exploited until the late 1800s, along with diverse terrestrial and aquatic wildlife. The nation's economic strategies will likely revolve around sustainable resource management and strategic partnerships to harness its potential.

Government Structure:

Under the leadership of HRM. Dr. Webiston Jokonya as the Founding Prime Minister and President Irm. Prof. Dr. Jeremy Saffier, the government comprises dedicated individuals in key positions. Notable figures include Prof. Dr. Charles C.O as the Attorney General and various ministers responsible for defense, foreign affairs, education, housing, and communications.

International Relations:

With English as the official language and the Delvin Dollar as the currency, the United Republic of Delvin is poised to engage with the international community. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abraham Christonia Samuels, is expected to play a crucial role in fostering diplomatic ties and establishing the nation on the global stage.

Challenges and Opportunities:

While the narrow fringing reef surrounding the island poses maritime hazards, it also underscores the need for sustainable environmental practices. Addressing these challenges and leveraging the nation's unique attributes will be key to the United Republic of Delvin's success.

As this newly declared sovereign state embarks on its journey, the world watches with anticipation to see how the United Republic of Delvin will navigate its unique geopolitical position and contribute to the evolving dynamics of the Pacific region.

Historical Journey and Declaration of the United Republic of Delvin

From 1788, our ancestors resided on an island in the Central Pacific Ocean, known as Kore Island, located approximately 2,100 kilometers near Gilbert Island, now Kiribati. Adversely affected by harsh weather conditions, they relocated to Kiribati in 1814. The arrival of British settlers around 1837-1838 marked a pivotal point in their history. In 1886, British and American forces abducted some islanders, leading our ancestors to Samoa and Fiji as slaves.

Journey to Africa:

While in Samoa, they migrated to Tonga Island before embarking on a remarkable journey through various islands, ultimately reaching Alkebulan (now Africa). Tonga people were the first settlers in Northern Nyasaland (Zambia), and our ancestors chose to settle in the Southwest, known as Guruhuswa in Shona tradition, historically mentioned as Butua in Portuguese documents.

Reclaiming Ancestral Land:

In 1999, our ancestors recounted their experiences, urging the reclaiming of their land. Motivated by this, in 2012, during academic research and visits to Zambia, I discovered the desolation of our ancestral land. Despite no current human habitation, I stumbled upon a post referring to Howland Island, previously Kore Island.

Discovery of George Worth's Account:

Digging deeper into historical records, I found George Worth's account, asserting his visit to the island in 1822 when our ancestors had relocated to Gilbert Island due to adverse weather conditions. Notably, Kore Island was renamed Howland Island in 1842.

Declaration of the United Republic of Delvin:

On September 5, 2023, fulfilling promises to our ancestors, I officially declared our ancestral land as the United Republic of Delvin. This decision aims to resurrect our kingdom and honor the mission entrusted to us by our forebears.

Compiled by His Royal Majesty King Prof. Webiston Jokonya, this historical account serves as a testament to the resilience of our ancestors and their enduring legacy. The establishment of the United Republic of Delvin is a symbolic step towards rebuilding our kingdom and fulfilling the aspirations of those who came before us. May this declaration pave the way for a prosperous future in our ancestral land. Date: 5th September 2023.

FAMILY SEARCH HISTORY

From 1788 our Ancestors lived in an island in the Central Pacific Ocean called Kore Island (named from our Native name) about 2,100km near Gilbert Island, now called Kiribati. They moved from there during 1814 to Kiribati due to hash weather. When they were in Kiribati the British settlers arrives as well around 1837 – 1838. In 1886 British and Americans kidnapped some islanders and our Ancestors were taken to Samao Island and others to Fiji as slaves. When they were in Samao they relocate again in Tonga Island from there they managed to move from one island to another trying to find another place to live rather to go back to Kore Island in the central Pacific Ocean. They travel using the same route used by some Tonga people until they reach Alkebulan (meaning mother of mankind) now called Africa. Where Tonga were the first people to settle in Northern Nyasaland (Zambia), and my ancestors decided to settle in the Southwest called Guruhuswa in shona tradition. The region was first mentioned in Portuguese as Butua. In 1999 my ancestors took and narrate the whole story about what was happened to them during that time and the location and description of the island, said you should reclaim their land, and in 2012 during my academic researches I started to carry out researches academically and visited the place when I was living in Zambia. I discovered there is no human being living in our ancestral land, but to my surprise I see a post named Howland Island. When I came back I go down and deeper with my research where I came across with a story of George Worth who said he visited the island in 1822, when our ancestors were relocate in Gilbert island due to hash weather and the Kore island renamed to Howland island in 1842 . In the 5th September 2023 my ancestral land was declared to fulfill the promises I made to my ancestors. I renamed it United Republic of Delvin, so that I can rebuilt our kingdom to fulfill the mission of our ancestors. Compiled by His Royal Majesty King. Prof. Webiston Jokonya Date: 5th September 2023
