The Travel Risk Estimator for Business Travelers (TREB) is a tool created for healthcare providers and travelers.[1] Its purpose is to provide a numerical assessment of the health risks associated with travel for an individual. The tool is intended to provide both travellers and healthcare professionals with a straightforward and rough estimate of the risk associated with a specific trip.

Travel risk assessment is a crucial aspect of travel health management. It involves evaluating both the risks posed by the destination and the health status of the individual travelling to that location. The results of the risk assessment are used to determine the appropriate health and safety advice and interventions to be provided, based on current travel health guidelines. Accurate risk assessment requires detailed information about the traveller's itinerary and medical history.[2]

Travel Medicine is a specialty field that focuses on addressing the health risks associated with travel and implementing preventive measures to minimize those risks. This can include measures such as malaria prophylaxis and vaccination to help ensure a healthy and safe trip.[3]

According to a report by the US Travel Association, American companies reportedly spent approximately $225 billion on business travel for their employees in 2012.[4]

The relationship between global travel and business is becoming increasingly intertwined, and awareness of travel-related health risks is on the rise. Due to the growing concern over major disease outbreaks and the impact they can have on global health, there is a need for simpler and more accessible methods for assessing travel health risks. To address this need, the authors have created a prototype of an online tool, the Travel Risk Estimator for Business Travelers (TREB) calculator. This tool is designed to provide both travellers and healthcare professionals with a quick and easy estimate of the health risks associated with a specific trip.

The Travel Risk Estimator for Business Travelers (TREB) is a new tool created by Dr. Ahmad Latif.[5] It was first introduced in the fourth quarter of 2013 by the authors during the second QP Occupational Health conference, which was held from November 19 to November 21, 2013.[6]

The electronic risk estimator developed years ago and published in a medical journal in 2017.[7]

The TREB tool can be accessed online at the website “fittotravel.net”.[8] It is a user-friendly tool that can be used by both individual travellers and healthcare professionals to assess travel risk. The tool provides a rough estimate of the risks associated with a trip and offers advice to travellers to help them make informed decisions about their travel plans.
