Tractor Tug William M
The Tractor Tug William M (originally named the C-Tractor 1) is a harbor tug, originally built for and owned by Alpha Marine Services, a subsidiary of Edison Chouest Offshore.[1][2] She was completed in 1989 and was originally named the C-Tractor 1. She was the first in a series of 14 tractor tugs built by North American Shipbuilding for Edison Chouest Offshore.[3] In 2005 she was sold to Bay-Houston Towing Company, and is now based in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The William M and her sister ships' gross displacement is 189 tons.[1][4] They are propelled by Z-drive pods, powered by twin EMD 16-645 engines rated at 4,000 Shaft horsepower. The vessels mount fore and aft fire-fighting water cannons, capable of pumping 3,500 gallons per minute.
Her sister ships continue to be owned by Alpha Marine and six of them, C-Tractor 2, C-Tractor 3, C-Tractor 4, C-Tractor 5, C-Tractor 12, C-Tractor 13 are currently chartered to the United States Navy.[5][6]
