Tekin Salimi (born May 25, 1988) is a Canadian venture capitalist and lawyer, known for his expertise in blockchain and cryptocurrency technology.[1] He previously held the position of general partner at Polychain Capital, a specialized investment firm in this field.[2]

Salimi has garnered recognition for his extensive knowledge and experience in cryptographic digital assets and blockchain technology. Early life

Tekin Salimi born on May 25, 1988, in Bursa, Turkey. At the age of one, Salimi and his family relocated to Canada where he spent his formative years.[4] Following the completion of his high school education in 2006, Salimi enrolled at Ryerson University, where he pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree. Notably, during his time at Ryerson University, Salimi was an active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.[5]

Career

Following his graduation from Osgoode Hall Law School, Tekin Salimi began his career as a corporate lawyer at Torys LLP. During his tenure at the firm, which spanned over two years, Salimi specialized in private and public mergers and acquisitions, debt finance, and securities law.[6]

In 2018, Salimi transitioned to Polychain Capital, a digital asset investment firm that has garnered significant recognition for its global adoption of cryptocurrencies.[7] The company has raised over $10 million from a group of notable venture industry investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund, Union Square Ventures, and Sequoia Capital, among others. Salimi served as a member of Polychain Capital's team till 2022.[8]

In the year 2022, Tekin Salimi founded dao5, a Web3 venture fund with a capitalization of $125 million.[9]
