Shturm turret on a BTR-3

The Shturm turret is a remotely controlled turret, developed in Ukraine, for light armored vehicles.[1][2] The turret adds 1,300 kilograms (2,900 lb) to a vehicle's weight.[3] The turret was developed at the Kyiv Armoured Plant, in Kiev.[4] The turret is armed with a ZTM-1 30mm autocannon, coaxial 7.62 machine gun, smoke grenades, and a launcher for a pair of anti-tank missiles.[5] The turret is capable of an elevation of 45 degrees.[6]

In July of 2019 Defense and Security Monitor reported that Ukraine was fielding several hundred armoured fighting vehicles mounting shturm turrets.[7]

In February of 2022, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, a video was released by an observer, showing that Ukraine was fielding a prototype vehicle, an armoured fighting vehicle of a new design, that mounted a shturm turret.[8]
