Early Life

Shamsul Arefin is a Bangladeshi Doctor, Public Health Professional, and EdTech entrepreneur. He was born on 01 July 1990 in Chittagong, Bangladesh. He completed his secondary education at Rahmatpur High School, Sandwip, Chittagong. He passed HSC from Chittagong College, Chittagong. He earned his MBBS degree from Comilla Medical College, Comilla, and completed his master’s in public health (MPH) from BRAC James P. Grant School of Public Health.

Career

After graduating from medical school in 2014, Shamsul Arefin joined Central Medical College, Comilla as a Lecturer in Biochemistry. Then he became interested in working with people living with disabilities. He joined Lion Mukhlesur Rahman Foundation in 2015 and worked there helping babies to be cured who was born with clubfoot. He joined Bangladesh Civil Service in 2019 and got posted in several Upazilas of Bangladesh. He joined the Cambridge Advanced Short Course on Chronic Non-Communicable Disease in early 2020. Shamsul Arefin felt that future of the education is online. He established the first Bangladeshi online job preparation EdTech P2A. He is the founder and chief instructor at P2A. He also established the first-ever skill learning-based club in Bangladesh The 6 AM Club. Since April 2021 he has been working in the Management Information System of the Directorate General of Health Services. He has a tremendous role in the execution of the vaccine management system Surokkha. He is a public health researcher. He presented his poster on the effect of the COVID-19 vaccine & lockdown in reducing COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh at the 11th TEPHINET Global Scientific Conference.
