Robert Lloyd Norton (born April 18, 1972) is an English businessman and currently CEO and co-founder of Verisart. He was formerly CEO and co-founder of Saatchi Art[1] and Sedition Art.[2][3] Norton has worked at the intersection of art and technology since 2009.[4]

Personal life and Education

Born and raised in London, Norton earned a MA in Modern History from Oxford University.[5]

Career

Verisart

Norton is the CEO and co-founder of Verisart, a platform to certify and verify artworks and collectibles using the Bitcoin blockchain.[6] It provides a trusted database for artworks and allows anyone to list an art.[1] Verisart provides contemporary artists, including Shepard Fairey, an easy way to generate permanent certificates of authenticity and reduce the scope for fraudulent activity.[6]

Sedition Art

Prior to Verisart, Norton was formerly CEO and co-founded Sedition, an online platform for collecting affordable digital art by well-known artists.[3]

Saatchi Art

He was the CEO and co-founder of Saatchi,[1][3] where he was responsible for restructuring and relaunching the service, giving unrepresented artists a platform to sell work.[4]

Clickmango

Norton founded Clickmango, an online health and beauty site , with partner Toby Rowland in June 1999. Eight days after their first pitch, they raised £3 million from Atlas Ventures and Lord Rothschild.[5] Clickmango was fronted by actress Joanna Lumley.[7]

AOL Europe

He was the Head of e-commerce at AOL Europe.[5]
