Mohammad Odeh
Born 1973
Nationality Palestine
Known for Triggered a bomb in Jerusalem

Mohammad Odeh was an individual who, on July 31, 2002, triggered a remotely controlled bomb in a cafeteria on a campus of Hebrew University in Jerusalem.[1] Odeh was captured on August 22, 2002, and expressed remorse for his act.[2]

The bomb killed nine individuals, and injuring 85 others.[3][4][5]

Odeh had access to the University's campus since he had been working as a painter there.[2][6] The New York Times quoted Israeli security officials who claimed the cell had been responsible for two suicide bombings early that year. Odeh was said to have covered the bomb with perfume to mask the smell of the fertilizer from which it was made.

When Odeh and other suspects were captured, on August 22, 2002, the New York Times described him as the leader of a five-man cell, but when the men were sentenced, four months later, Wa'el Qassem was described as the cell's leader.[2][7]

Odeh's cell was reported to have been affiliated with Hamas.[2][6]
