Md Mazharul Islam Himel but he is popularly known as Mazharul Islam Himel. He is a Bangladeshi professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. He last played for Chittagong Abahani in Bangladesh Premier League, he is currently a free agent.

Career

Himel started his football journey while still a student of the Azim Uddin High School in Kishoreganj. Azim Uddin High School won Kishoreganj, Mymensingh and Dhaka divisional school football championships during Himel's tenure as the goalkeeper there. Himel brought victory to the Kishoreganj district football team through a tiebreaker in Bhaluka, Mymensingh for the Kishoreganj district team. Himel caught the attention of the coach of the Bangladesh national football team after seeing his performance during that game.

Himel was consistently present in the U-14, U-17, U-19 and U-23 national football teams, and as a result, in 2006, he was called to the Bangladesh national football team. While playing in the under-17 Bangladesh national football team, Himel first joined Badda Jagarani and then Dhanmondi Club, which is now known as Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club. Later joined Mohammedan SC directly from Dhanmondi Club, 2005.

In his first season at the club he won the 2005–06 National Football Championship. He went on to play for Abahani Limited Dhaka and Arambagh KS the following years. In November 2019, Himel was named Mohammedan SC's captain for the season.

Himel, returned to the national team under head coach Jamie Day, the same year he captained Mohammedan.

Personal life

Himel was born in Puran Thana of Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila. He is an executive member of Kishoreganj Football District Association. His father was Advocate Zinnatul Islam and mother Begum Zinat Ara. His father was the founder president of Kishoreganj District Football Association, moreover he was the president of the district bar twice and the secretary twice.

They have 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He is the youngest among the brothers. His elder brothers are Advocate Kamrul Islam Babu and Advocate Iftekharul Islam Pavel. Her elder sister name is Kamrun Nahar Shikha 2nd sister Sabikun Nahar Shanta and younger sister doctor Nazmun Nahar Shamanta

Education Life

Himel passed SSC from Azimuddin High School in 2000, then passed Wali Nawaz Khan College HSC in 2002, then passed with honors from Stamford University in 2006 with Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).

Himel got married on March 20, 2012 after dating Marufa Haque Mouli for 3 years.

International Careers

Himel made his debut in 2001 as a goalkeeper in Dhanmondi club. He played first 2nd match and 3rd match against Myanmar for Bangladesh National Football Team in 2003 for Under 17. Then he played 5 matches in Thailand for Under 17 Bangladesh Football Team.

Then played 3 matches in Japan for under 17 Bangladesh team won 1 match against Qatar, Iran and Uzbekistan. Under 20 was playing for Bangladesh football team with Iran in 2005. The first match was against Iran and the 2nd match Bangladesh Bangbandhu Stadium was also against IranThen in 2006 under-23 played for Bangladesh football team in Asian Games in Qatar. There first match against Bahrain, 2nd match against South Korea and last match against Vietnam. Again, Under 23 Hong Kong Pre Olympics was playing 2 matches, one in Hong Kong and another in Bangladesh.

But Bangladesh won against Hong Kong in Hong Kong ground. In 2010 South Asian Games played 2 matches for Under 23. At that time Bangladesh football team won. Then there were 3 matches in Under 23 China Asian Games out of which he was playing 2 matches.[9] Himel made his debut for the national team in Hong Kong in 2006. In 2007 Mardeka Cup played 3 matches for Bangladesh National Football Team. Played 1match against Tajikistan in 2007 in Tajikistan 🇹🇯.World Cup Qualifier played 2 matches in 2014. In 2016, Bangbandhu Stadium International played 2 friendly matches, first against Singapore and 2nd against Afghanistan. In 2019, Laos played a World Cup qualifier match against Laos, which was won by Bangladesh National Football Team.

Club Career

Himel started his club career in 2001 for Dhanmondi Club. There he was playing a total of 3 matches from 2001 to 2004. In 2005 Badda Zagarani played a total of 15 matches for Sangsad from 2005-2006 and became the runner-up in 2005-2006. In 2007-2009, he played a total of 38 matches for Dhaka Mohammedan and became the Super Cup champion. This time again in 2007, 2008, 2009 became the league runner-up. Then Federation Cup runner-up. In 2009-2010 he played a total of 15 matches for Sheikh Russell KC.2010-2011 Abahani Limited Dhaka played a total of 5 matches. Became the Super Cup champion at that time and the Federation Cup champion. Bardulai Trophy champion in India that year. 2011, 2012, 2013 team was playing a total of 24 matches for BJMC.
