Khandaker Faruk Ahmed
Khandaker Faruk Ahmed (1 January 1940 - 11 July 2001) was a prominent Bangladeshi singer who has lent his voice to songs like "Neel Akasher Niche Ami", " Kachhe Esho Jodi Bolo" etc.
Early Life and Education
Khandaker Faruk Ahmed was born on 1 January 1940. His father was a police officer. He studued from Bagura Zilla School, Rangamati Zilla School and Jagannath College. His inspiration was Manna Dey. He learnt classical music from Ustaad Mithun Dey. [1]
Career
After completing his secondary from Jagannath College, He was admitted to Dhaka University for his higher studies. Singer Anwaruddin Khan introdced him to professional music. During this time, he went to Mumbai to perform. Indian composer Sachin Dev Burman noticed his talent and urged him to continue his music. [2]
He was enlisted by Dhaka Radio in 1957 as a singer. He recorded his first song "Champakoli Go Koto Name" in 1959 at Dhaka Betar. He debuted with 1965 film Chawa Pawa under the musical direction of Satya Saha. The song was titled "Rikto Hate Jare Firaye Dile", written by Mohammad Moniruzzaman became immense hit. [3] After the success of his first film song, there was no looking back. He went on to deliver hit songs in films like Abirbhab, Etotuku Asha, Deep Nebhe Nai, Neel Akasher Niche, Jibon Sathi, Alor Michil, Shopno Diye Ghera, Ashikkhito etc. [2]
