Jennifer Carlson is an American sociologist known for studying American gun culture.[1][2]

In October 2022 the Macarthur Foundation announced Carlson was one of the 25 individuals chosen for the 2022 Macarthur Fellowships.[1] The fellowship comes with an $800,000 stipend.[3]

Carlson is a professor at the University of Arizona.[3]

Carlson is the author of two books, "Citizen-Protectors: The Everyday Politics of Guns in an Age of Decline", "Policing the Second Amendment: Guns, Law Enforcement, and the Politics of Race" with a third, "Merchants of the Right: Gun Sellers and the Crisis of American Democracy" on its way.[3]
