The best part is, Homeway also supports the official iOS and Android Home Assistant app, allowing you to remotely access your home from anywhere for free!

Setup only takes 10 seconds; just install the Homeway Addon for Home Assistant, and you're done! Try it now.

Features

Free, Secure, & Private Remote Access Homeway provides complete access to your Home Assistant via the web or the Home Assistant iOS and Android apps. Homeway is built on a worldwide server network that creates a mesh network, allowing for the fastest and lowest latency remote access possible. Setup takes 10 seconds, install the addon and you're done. Homeway offers 100% free remote access with a monthly data limit and unlimited remote access for only $2.49/month.

Easy Setup Google Home & Alexa Integrations Homeway securely connects Google Assistant and Alexa to your Home Assitant for full home voice control and real-time controls from your smart screens and apps. The setup process requires no fuss, click a button on the Homeway website, and you're done!

Security is #1 Unlike other remote access services for Home Assistant, Homweay does not expose your local Home Assistant server to the public internet. Homeway protects your server with your Homeway account, meaning bad actors on the internet can't probe or access your Home Assitant at all. Your data is private.

You Data Is Private You data is private. Homeway doesn't store or access any of the remote access data. Once the data is relayed through our service, it's deleted. Homeway doesn't even know your Home Assistant credentials or private cookies!

Security

Other remote access solutions for Home Assistant, like Nabu Casa, expose your Home Assistant server to the public internet, allowing anyone to access and probe the server. The only line of defense between a bad actor and your entire home controls is your Home Assistant account and Home Assistant's security. In March of 2023, a critical security flaw was found in Home Assistant that allowed a full authentication by-pass. This means anyone on the internet can access any Home Assistant server running the vulnerable version or older.

Homeway is secure. Homeway takes a different approach to security, where remote access isn't possible unless you sign in to your HomeAway account. Homeway accounts are secured with 3rd-party login providers, code-based two-factor authentication, and email login code challenges.

History

Homeway was created in November 2023 by Quinn Damerell to give the Home Assistant community an alternative security model option for easy Home Assistant remote access.
