Dogsled Music Group (DMG) is an independent American Record Label. The label was founded in 2017, by Veda Smith. Dogsled Music Group’s objective is to handle distribution, artist development, branding, licensing, publishing, marketing, radio and video distribution, brand merchandising and artist development. Under the DogSled Brand DogSled Music Group and DogSled Productions operates under the same roof and is a one stop shop for music and production needs. In 2023 DogSled Music Group partnered with Sebek and established the label with it’s own imprint. With this expansion DogSled Music Group now has the capability and the functionally as any other major label.^[1]

The Formation

Veda Smith has established multiple skill sets that contributed to the formation of “Dogsled Music Group” After she learned the business, she decided to form her own label, which later turned into “Dogsled Music Group” Better known as DMG, which became a digital and physical distribution label with manufacturing, publishing and licensing. DMG represents artists, producers and writers. Dogsled Music Group has a significant focus that emphasizes artist’s development, marketing, branded merchandising, sync licensing and publishing.^[2]

About The Founder

The founder of DogSled Music Group is Veda Smith. She is a business guru, with extensive knowledge in the film, music and overall entertainment industry. As Creative Producer for the Music Documentary, “Little Richard, I Am Everything,” she holds a Grammy Nomination under her belt for this project announced in 2023, for Best Music Film. She also, played 5 different instruments and was a former opera singer. Ms.Smith has sung for many government officials prior. She has been offered scholarships from “Fisk University” and “Chattanooga State University,” she ended up attending “Middle Tennessee State University” where she majored in Mass Communication and Radio Broadcast. ^[3]Her vision was combining music, television and film which she knew would be a powerful asset to her and the formation of “Dogsled Music Group and DogSled Productions.” Veda Smith combined her knowledge in all areas of the entertainment industry, and after years of extensive knowledge and experience Veda Smith became a force to be reckoned with.

She then produced several concept television shows. This lead to the creation of music and developmental process of artists in 2008. Veda then decided to work with C. Michael Brae, the CEO of “Hitman Records,” as Vice President of Operations. This was the doorway to pursuing her dreams and tackling her goal that lead to the formation of DMG.

Partnerships

Veda Smith the founder of Dogsled Music Group better known as DMG, has been able to mastermind valuable partnerships that has allowed the company to expand. DMG partnered with major distributors; Sony/Orchard, Universal INgrooves, MVD and Sound Republica along with HFA for licensing.

In October 2018 she partnered with 4&4 Media to produce music and media content for incarcerated inmates. Veda Smith has also partnered with Digital 1 Media service for a Pay-Per-View content provider for music concerts and comedy show.^[4]

In December 2018, Veda Smith signed a K-Pop partnership deal with Korean business executive, Hannah Hong. She is the owner of Born Star Training Center. This alliance has been essential to the growth of Dogsled Music Group. Veda Smith has opened opportunities for K-Pop talent to distribute their music here in America. With DogSleds expansion, in 2019, DMG crossed over into the international world of Ghana, Africa. This partnership with CEO Isaac FiiFi Yamoa Essel of Jungle House Events has allowed DMG to expand globally and sign African artist and distribute African music and video content.^[5]

In 2023 DMG signed a Imprint deal with Sebek. This partnership DogSled Music Group allows DMG to compete with the major labels from all aspects of the business.
