Dheeraj Palliyil

Dheeraj Palliyil (born May 7, 1993) is an Indian businessman, technologist, digital workflow specialist, optical imaging expert, and cinematographer. He is the Founder and CEO of a digital cinema production and technology partner, Dare Pictures and World Famous Pictures Private Limited.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

Early Life and Education

Palliyil was born to Soman and Parimalavally. He belongs to Kerala, a Southern state of India.[8][9]

Palliyil received a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from AVS Engineering College, Tamil Nadu, India.[5]

Career

In January 2012, Palliyil founded Dare Pictures, a leading digital cinema production and technology service provider in Kochi city, India. He is currently running the same company as its CEO.[5][10] The company introduces the latest cinema technologies, including cameras, lenses, film gear, and gadgets, and develops ways all these technologies can work better together. It develops digital workflows and researches extended reality and artificial intelligence in digital cinema production.

Palliyil is a Director of a private limited company, World Famous Pictures Private Limited, a Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) registered company.[11][6]

Palliyil has worked as a Digital work flow specialist and cinematographer for various feature films, advertisement films, documentaries, and TV series. He is known for his work in films Ottu (2022), directed by Fellini T.P.; Viplavam Jayikkanullathanu (2019), directed by Nishad Hasan; Pattabhiraman (2019), directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam; Vallikudilile Vellakaaran (2018), directed by Duglus Alfred; Theevandi (2018), directed by Fellini T.P.; and Pyppin Chuvattile Pranayam (2017), directed by Domin D'Silva.[12] Palliyil and his company, Dare Pictures, were also involved in the technical side of the films Drishyam 2 (2022), Lucifer (2019), and Beeshmapravam (2019).

Palliyil has also worked in Nasir, a Tamil drama film directed by Arun Karthik[13] that won various awards, including Rotterdam International Film Festival and Tarkovsky Film Festival - Zerkalo. In addition, he served as an Aerial Cinematographer in Adventures of Omanakuttan (2017), filmed and directed by Rohith V.S.; Street Lights (2018), directed by Shamdat Sainudeen; and Nithyaharitha Nayakan (2018), produced by Dharmajan Bolgatty.[12]

Palliyil introduced a special edition Red V Raptor 8k cinema camera to Kerala after constantly communicating with the RED company President, Jared Land. Indian actor and film producer Mammootty, who works in Malayalam films, also checked and evaluated the camera. V Raptor 8k is an ultra-slow motion camera having several advanced features. Palliyil also introduced Weapon, the first 8k camera in South India, and Komodo 6k, the first in Asia.[14][15][16]

On 16 December 2022, Palliyil launched RED V-Raptor S35 Rhino, a limited edition camera exhibited for the first time in India at the 22nd International Film festival of Kerala (IFFK ) unveiled by Ranjit Tagore, the Chairman of Kerala Film Academy, a direction, producer, and actor.

Palliyil is currently working as a Digital Workflow Consultant in films Kasargold (2022), directed by Mridul Nair, and AT, directed by Don Max.[17][18]

Technology Enthusiast

Pilliyil, being a technology enthusiast, is greatly inspired by Steve Jobs, the former CEO of Apple, who died in 2011.[1] On September 16, 2022, among hundreds of people waiting outside the Apple store to purchase the gadget, he was the first to purchase two sets of brand new iPhone 14 Pro from the premium reseller in Mirdif City Centre, Dubai, before its official release in India.[19][20][21][22][23][24][25] He spent Rs 40,000 for the ticket fare and visa fee to purchase the 512 GB storage model of the new iPhone, costing him around Rs 1,29,000.[1][2][3][4][8][20][26] He flew from Kochi to Dubai to become one of the first owners of the new model of the iPhone.He also made similar visits in 2017, 2019, and 2021 to purchase the latest models.[1][4] According to the store manager at iStyle, Mirdif City Centre, Palliyil visits Dubai every year to buy the latest version of the iPhone.[21][22]

Palliyil is fond of buying iPhones from Dubai. Talking to Khaleej Times, Palliyil said, "It's all like a dream come true for me to buy the iPhone. Apart from iPhone 13 and 14, all previous phones are released 10-15 days later in India. So that's how I started my trip to Dubai. I can go to Singapore, Hong Kong, or even the US to buy, but I choose Dubai because of my attachment to this country. I get the latest iPhone model from my favourite Apple store and my favourite staff," sounding content Palliyil summed up his feelings.

Personal Life

Palliyil currently lives in Kochi.
