Danny Pedler is a British Folk musician based in Bristol, England. He is best known for performing with New-Folk trio Tarren and with Greg Russell in the project Field and Dyke.[1] Playing Accordion and Hurdy-Gurdy, he is a proponent of the English traditional style of playing Folk music.[2]

Career

Pedler is a member of a folk trio band called Tarren, which is based in Bristol, and formed in 2022.[3] From an old Welsh word meaning “small hill”, this band is composed of Sid Goldsmith (cittern and vocals), Alex Garden (fiddle) and Danny Pedler (accordion)[4].

Tarren is a proponent of New Folk: traditional Folk music that incorporates modern musical themes. Tarren incorporates influences from minimalism and modern Pop music.[5]

Pedler is a folk historian and uses his research to inform his works. His Field and Dyke made music from Pedler’s interviews with people living in The Fens of south Lincolnshire that link local folk stories with modern issues like poverty and immigration.[6]
