Codingal
Codingal is an online coding platform aimed to provide online coding classes for kids and teens.[1] Codingal is headquartered in Delaware, US and has a global presence. On the platform, Codingal has upskilled over 350,000 students from 70 countries. The highlighted product of Codingal is their online coding and STEM courses which provide personalised learning experience.[2][3]
Codingal has partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise[4] and institutions which include IIT Roorkee[5], IIT Guwahati and BITS Pilani to run hackathons and coding contests.[6][7] Codingal is backed by Y Combinator and other VCs.[8]
History
Early Years
Codingal is founded by Vivek Prakash who has founded HackerEarth in 2012.[9][10] Vivek left HackerEarth in January 2020 and started working on Codingal in July 2020. Codingal acquired Skillovate Learning shortly after two months. Satyam Baranwal, the founder of Skillovate Learning, joined Codingal as a COO and co-founder.
Growth and Funding
Codingal has grown 30% every month since it's launch. In five months, 40,000 were active on the platform. Over the period of one year, teenagers from 5000 different schools were on Codingal to learn coding[11]
Codingal has raised $560,000 through seed funding after it's launch. Rebright Partners, Java Capital and GSF Accelerator are among the top early investors in the edtech startup.[12]
In early 2021, Codingal was accepted into Silicon Valley-based startup incubator Y Combinator's 2021 batch.[13] Later on the year, Y Combinator, Summer Capital and Day One Syndicate funded $1.2 Million for development of the platform. Business leaders participated in the latest funding round.[14][15]
