The band’s songs are inspired by legendary 80’s and 90’s bands[6] and tackle real-life situations with the themes of character assassination, name-dropping, addictions, sexual innuendos, romance, friendships, birth, death, and living on the edge of destruction is just a fraction of what is touched on in their music.[7][8]

Blacklist Union has partnered with Doug Goldstein and When Pigs Fly Entertainment.[8] The band has been featured in such magazines as Revolver, Metal Edge, and Metal Hammer.[9]

History

Blacklist Union was founded on November 11, 2004, by singer-songwriter Tony West.[4][5][6][10]

In early 2006, the band released their debut album, After the Mourning, but experienced several lineup changes over the next few months, including a short stint with former Buckcherry drummer Devon Glenn.[4][11] The album was made in tribute to West’s former girlfriend, Bianca Halstead, frontwoman and bassist of the all-female hard rock quintet Betty Blowtorch, who was killed in a car accident.[12]

In 2008, Blacklist Union released their follow-up album Breakin’ Bread With The Devil, produced by Chris Johnson (Evanescence, Josh Todd) and Anthony Valli of Crazy Town.[13] With tracks including the Sixty-Five Steps Away and Wicked Love Song, which received great critical acclaim.[14][15]

In 2012, Blacklist Union’s third full-length album, Til Death Do Us Part, featuring tracks including Alabama Slammer and Diggin’ 4 Gold,[14][15] was written by members of the renowned bands Saliva and CRAZYTOWN. The album had guest appearances by Wayne Swinny (Saliva) and Jon E. Love (Love/Hate)[16] and gained global and national success, sending the band on several national tours.[6][8]

In 2015, Blacklist Union’s album, Back to Momo, was released.[17][15] The former Guns n’ Roses manager and now former Blacklist Union manager has said that Back to Momo is “The best record that he’s heard since Appetite For Destruction" and that “Tony West is the hardest working frontman he knows.”[8][18][14]

In 2016, Blacklist Union released a music video for their track Evil Eye from the album Back To Momo.[1][19] Directed by Matt Zane of Lord Zane Productions,[20] the video gives a bleak look at the psychological abuse a child suffers at the hands of a parent. Despite the heavy subject matter in the music video, the track soared to be one of the album's highlights.[17]

Back to Momo became cited as the band’s definitive career high note. The album was the last to feature former bandmate and hardcore guitarist Todd Youth, who passed away on October 27, 2018. In response, the band decided to make the album a free download through their website for the remainder of 2018.[12][21]

Blacklist Union is working on an upcoming release titled Letters From the Psych Ward.[14]
