Benny Fernandez is the son of Cuban immigrants and of Spanish ancestry. He was born in Miami, FL, and spent his childhood in humble surroundings in North Miami, FL. His parents arrived in the United States on the Mariel Boatlift in 1980 with limited resources, Fernandez learned the value of hard work and determination from an early age. Despite the challenges of growing up in a low-income area, he remained focused on his goals and strived for excellence.[2]
