Biography

Sherman was raised in a Jewish-American family in Plainview, New York. His father Jack Sherman owned a Manhattan-based giftware company and his mother Edith Sherman was a homemaker. He attended Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, graduating in 1977 with a BA in Molecular Biology. He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1981. He completed a residency in podiatric surgery at the former Westchester General Hospital in Miami, Florida, now known as Keralty Hospital, in 1982.

Podiatry Practice (1982-2005)

Sherman started a private solo podiatry practice at the Delray Medical Center on the site of the new Delray Community Hospital when it opened in 1982. He practiced at that location until 2005. He was admitted to the surgical staff of the hospital in 1982, admitted patients, and operated there during his 23 years of practice.[4][5] Podiatry Online (1995)

Sherman founded an online virtual community and professional services website called Podiatry Online in 1995, which grew to become the largest Internet services website for podiatrists in the world. The website containing original material developed to help podiatrists treat their patients and run their practices better and a moderated list-serve edited email newsletter, the Podiatry Online NewsFlash, which was emailed to an opt-in subscriber list that reached 8,000 recipients by 2000. Sherman was joined by Michael Shore, DPM in 1998, who took on the role of Sales Manager and was soon made a full equal partner. Podiatry Online was acquired by Moore Medical in 2000 and Sherman and Shore continued to run it for two years, when Moore Medical was acquired by McKesson Corporation on April 2, 2004.[6]

PRESENT e-Learning Systems (2003-present)

In 2003, Sherman and Shore founded PRESENT e-Learning Systems, a medical education and communications company, which has grown to be the largest provider of education services for podiatrists.[7] PRESENT e-Learning Systems first product, PRESENT Podiatric Residency Education Online,[8] introduced in 2003, was a comprehensive curriculum of online lectures for podiatric residents, which standardized the curriculum for podiatric residency programs across the country through its weekly online lecture series and ezine publications. PRESENT e-Learning Systems currently has 9 employees, employs hundreds of consultant educators, and is based in Boca Raton.[9][10]
