History
A1 Auto Transport was founded in 1988 by Tony Taylor as a towing company in Watsonville, California. It started with just a single truck offering 24 hour emergency shipping and roadside assistance. The company later expanded its fleet of trucks, operating in various parts of California.[2]
Milestones
- In 1992, A-1 Auto Transport purchased its first auto transport carrier.[2]
- In 1995, the company increased its fleet to 50 auto transport carriers that moved vehicles across the United States..[2]
- In 1997, the company opened its first international office.[1]
- 1998, the company started its own brokerage firm and referral services to handle certain shipments they could not ship at the time.[1]
- In 2000, A-1 Auto Transport expanded internationally to service Asia, Europe, and other locations.[3]

- In 2023, A-1 Auto Transport joined the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association (WMCA), a nonprofit organization that represents Wisconsin’s transport industry.[7] The auto shipper company also joined North Dakota Motor Carriers Association the same year.[8]
