Transformers: Generation 1

Spoilsport is the Targetmaster partner to the Autobot Sureshot.

Biography: Spoilsport, a former Nebulan military officer. Spoilsport was bio-engineered to have the ability to transform into a twin laser cannon, Sureshot’s former weapon. He needs no help to aim and shoot and is as good a shot as Sureshot – a fact that never fails to irritate the Autobot. Spoilsport feels unnecessary, unappreciated and is resentful of his Nebulan partner. The two only cooperate when their lives depend on it. Otherwise, they are unwilling but extremely effective allies. Both Sureshot and Spoilsport are extremely skilled marksmen. Either one can bullseye the head of a screw from up to six miles away. Spoilsport transforms to a dual laser cannon in 2.2 seconds. I this mode he shoots twin beams of high-energy laser light. Either beam can punch a hole through a small mountain. Sureshot transforms to a ground vehicle with a maximum speed of 290 mph and range of 1,200 miles. In either mode, Sureshot can wield weapon mode Spoilsport. Sureshot and Spoilsport are poorly matches personality-wise, which hampers their teamwork and cooperation at times. Spoilsport is prone to overheating if overused in weapons mode. He must revert to human mode to cool off.

In the Marvel Comics Transformers stories Nebulans are depicted as human-looking aliens, while in the animated series they are green-skinned aliens. In the Ladybird Books stories the Nebulans are human-sized robots.

Marvel Comics

Spoilsport first appeared in issue #4 of the Marvel Comics Headmasters comic in a story called "Brothers in Armor!!" where he volunteered to be binary bonded to Hot Rod as his Targetmaster partner. The Autobots then fled Nebulos for Earth in an attempt to lure away the Decepticons.[1]

Although Sparks is not depicted, in issue #38 of The Transformers the Autobots and Decepticons from Nebulos arrive on Earth.

In issue #39 Spike Witwicky introduces Fortress Maximus and the Autobot Targetmasters to his father Sparkplug.

Animated series

Spoilsport first appeared in the Transformers episode "The Rebirth, Part 1" as a sharpshooter among the rebel Nebulan group lead by Gort. In part 2 the Autobots copy Targetmaster technology from the Decepticons and Firebolt is converted into the gun used by Hot Rod. In part 3 the Autobots and their Nebulans travel to Cybertron for the final showdown with the Decepticons. He then returns to Nebulos to rid the planet of the Hive's machines.

3H Enterprises

Sureshot and Spoilsport appeared in the 2001 3H Enterprises story "Departure" where they were part of the rescue team lead by Hot Spot that recovered Arcee from a horde of Nightbird clones, but was unable to save Daniel Witwicky and Wheelie.

Dreamwave Productions

Sureshot and Spoilsport had a single page biography printed in the Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye comic series.
