Rod Drill is a fictional character from the Machine Robo series. He is a heroic Machine Robo introduced in 1983 as Drill Robo, but was renamed Rod Drill in 1986 for Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos.

Machine Robo

A young warrior of the Battle Clan, Rod Drill transforms into a drill tank and stands 6 feet 4 inches tall. He was born in mining town of Daug. He trained under Master Kirai Stol along side his friends Blue Jet and Rom Stol. He uses a bare fist form of Tenku Chushin Ken martial arts. He has a bright, happy-go-lucky personality and adores Rom's sister Reina Stol. He can be cranky if woken up early, and is secretly afraid of snakes and spiders. Because of his robotic nature, Rod Drill does not need to breath oxygen. His weapons include Ionoid Super Drill, a pair of tonfas and his Blazer Cannon.

Rod once piloted the MR P3 Power Suit from the Land Commander 5 team. This suit triples his strength and allows him to fly at Mach 16.8.

The design of the Machine Robo Rescue character Drill Robo was directly based on Rod Drill.

Drill and friends attended the funeral of Kirai, where Rom took on a quest to follow the Wolf Sword's directions to find the next threat to Cronos. This quest would lead the companions to a fortress with the Wolf Symbol which attacked by Grujios and the Devil Satan 6. Rom and friends were captured by the Gandora when the people of the fortress betrayed them, but once it was clear the Gandora were still a threat, the people of the fortress helped free the companions. Rom used Vikung-Fu to defeat Devil Satan 6 once again.
