About
Obeid R Nizam is a prominent Businessman residing in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has a distinct interest in the Automobile industry, different Businesses, Cricket, a variety of Sports, IT and Trading. He was born into a renowned family of Chittagong. His grandfather was Late Mr O R Nizam, who was the Mayor (Vice-Chairman, Chittagong Municipality) of Chittagong and the founder Chairman of Pubali Bank Ltd (Former Eastern mercantile Bank Ltd). He is the only son of H Rashid Nizam and Fauzia Nizam. He has a sister who lives in New Jersey, USA.
Early life
He went to St Placid’s school and later to St Joseph’s in Dhaka where he also attended Bangladesh International Tutorial in Dhaka. He finally graduated from Grade 12 from Kodaikanal International School, a boarding school in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. He later went to the USA and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Hofstra University, New York. He started his career in cricket in 2000' and has remained actively involved with it ever since.
Professional life
On return from the USA, he joined Grindlays Bank in Dhaka for a few years and then joined the DHS Motors Ltd, distributors for Honda Motors, Japan as a Director in late 90’s. He is currently a Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board, the biggest Sports Body in Bangladesh. He is also the CEO of Dhaka Dynamites and Beximco Sports. Obeid Nizam is actively involved in charity works for cricketers/organizers and serves as the Secretary General of PITCH Foundation. He is also involved with WECCA as an executive member where he had served as President for many years. WECCA is a weekend cricket fraternity where retired players participate in a weekend league. With all these establishments concerned, Obeid Nizam has successfully carved a distinct niche for himself as a versatile Businessman and a Philanthropist. He believes in hard work, sincerity and dedication followed by a disciplined lifestyle.
