Jetstorm refers to several characters in the Transformers franchise:

Available in 1993, but only in Europe, was another, different Jetstorm toy also of the Deluxe size. This character was an Autobot who transformed into a rally car. Although considered simple compared to many Transformers of the same size, Jetstorm is at least able to bend his legs at his knees as well as at his elbows unlike the Decepticon Jetstorm, however this is most likely only because his transformation requires it.

His biography indicated that he was a strategy expert and highly intelligent, however he was described as impetuous and brash. He is brilliant at devising new defense methods against the Decepticons.

This character has not appeared in any fiction.

Toys

  • Generation 1 Aquaspeeder Jetstorm (1993)
This toy is a recolor of the Autobot named Gobots.

Beast Wars

The Beast Wars version of Jetstorm is a Predacon who transforms into a Dragonfly.

Function Coordinator
Motto "The best thing in life is sweet revenge."

Sub-group Aquaspeeders/Color Changers

The name Jetstorm was first used in the Transformers toyline on two different toys released on two different continents; however both characters were Aquaspeeders - toys that could shoot water from their weapon and had parts which changed color when they came in contact with water, a gimmick never again seen in the toyline.[1]

The first Transformers toy with the name Jetstorm was a 4WD vehicle and was released in America. This toy was of the Deluxe size but as was typical of many newly created Transformers toys at the time, it was incredibly simple - as a robot, Jetstorm could only move his arms at his elbows and his legs were completely immobile.

His character profile indicates he is a bully and despised because of his insistence on getting his own way all the time. However, his expertise at coordinating his unit has kept the Decepticon from dismantling him - for now.

Fun Publications

In "The Coming Storm: Part 1" Nexus Prime and Aquarius Quintesson arrive on the Wings Universe Cybertron where they are attacked by Jetstorm, Deluge, Runabout, and Runamuck. Nexus Prime quickly trounces the four Decepticons and leaves that dimension with his traveling companion.

Jetstorm was among the troops under the command of Clench on Earth.[2]

Toys

  • Generation 2 Color Changer Jetstorm (1993)
The toy was repainted in Europe as an Autobot called Aquafend.[3]

The third character named Jetstorm was a Predacon in the Beast Wars toy line who turned into a dragonfly. He didn't make any appearances in the animated series. His profile indicates that he uses his appearance to distract his enemies until it is far too late. He can also produce a toxic venom which he can spit over distances of 500 feet or more.

Animated series

Jetstorm's stasis pod was presumably among those who were launched into orbit around prehistoric Earth in the Beast Wars series pilot.

IDW Publishing

Jetstorm finally made his first official appearance in the 2006 IDW Beast Wars: The Gathering comic, where it was revealed he was a Maximal protoform from the Axalon who was infected with a Predacon shell program by Magmatron.

Jetstorm had a biography printed in the Beast Wars Sourcebook by IDW Publishing.[4]

Toys

  • Beast Wars Jetstorm (1997)
Jetstorm was not released in Japan under his American identity but the toy was redecoed and released as a Maximal Insectron called Tonbot. He is the Insectron's spy and their fastest flyer.

Beast Machines

Silverbolt (Beast Wars)-the Maximal who was reprogrammed into Jetstorm for a time during Beast Machines.

Toys

  • Beast Machines Deluxe Jetstorm (2000)
There were three toys of Jetstorm: a Deluxe, a larger Ultra version and a tiny McDonalds Happy Meal kids toy. The appearance of the two larger toys does not resemble the TV show character accurately, like many Beast Machines models.
The Deluxe sized Jetstorm toy was redecoed into Robots in Disguise Autobot Stormjet and Decepticon Jhiaxus, as well as Universe Skywarp.[5]
  • Beast Machines Ultra Jetstorm (2000)
The Ultra Jetstorm toy was redecoed slightly in Japan to make it more show-accurate. Much like the original G1 Scattershot, Jetstorm has an obscene robot mode when the nose section of his jet mode is pointed forward instead of being folded in the back. It was also repainted as the BotCon exclusive Cyclonus, who appeared in the Transformers: Universe - Wreckers comic series.
Fans have compared the jet mode design with the VF-19 Excalibur Variable Fighter of the Macross series, and because of its leg configuration, it is possible to transform Ultra Jetstorm into Gerwalk mode.[6]
  • Beast Machines Happy Meal Jetstorm
he Happy Meal version of Jetstorm was released in a variety of colors in Australia in Red Robin's restaurants, including green and red variants.

Transformers (2007)

Jetstorm is a Decepticon cargo jet from the 2007 Transformers movie toy line.

Toys

  • Hasbro Transformers Ultra Jetfire (2008)
A recolor of Cybertron Sky Shadow.
