Abraham Great (born 6 November 1977) is a Nigerian businessman, author, gospel artist, speaker and humanitarian.[1][2] He is the founder and Senior Pastor of He Lives Bible Church (HLBC)[3] England, a church widely known for its inspiring slogan, It is Working.[4]

Early life

Abraham Great was born in Lagos, Nigeria to Reverend Joshua Olukunle Akintayo and Deaconess Abigail Asani Akintayo. The name ‘Great’ was given to him by his father.

Great spent his early childhood in Lagos and, most times, in different hospitals due to an unexplained illness. In August 1990, at age 12, Great was diagnosed of Meningitis, an illness for which a vaccine was yet to be developed.[5]

This illness made him give up his passion for football and other strenuous activities that could have endangered his health. But later, when a vaccine was found and introduced in Nigeria, Great became one of the few survivors of the disease.

In 1993, Great gave his life to Christ.

Education

Great started his undergraduate education as a Chemical Engineering student at the University of Lagos. In 1997, during the prolonged strike action which affected public universities in Nigeria,

Great had a personal encounter with God and felt a deep spiritual conviction to leave his academic pursuit and follow his passion for mission and evangelism.

Great later graduated with honours at Life Christian University in Tampa, Florida.[6] In 2019, he completed a LLB Law with Management at the University of Buckingham.[7]
