Rules

Capitalization rules - please follow
Welcome to WikiAlpha! Please note that on WikiAlpha, you are required to capitalize names properly, use proper spacing, and use proper punctuation. This is so that the encyclopedia can be organized, searchable, and accurate. Here are some rules that you must follow. Please do not ignore these rules.
  1. Do not use ALL CAPS.
For example, Ali Khan should not be ALI KHAN.
  2. Capitalize people's last names.
For example, Ali Khan should not be Ali khan.
  3. Spaces must be put in between words.
For example, Ali Khan should not be Alikhan.
  4. In addition, please use the actual name of the person or organization, not an online alias or social media ID.
For example, Ali Khan should not be Alikhan1234.

Thank you.

Thanks!

  1. Thanks for the headsup on the guy recklessly tagging articles for deletion!
  2. Thanks for correctly attributing W33EL-D when you ported it!

Blog?

I have much to consider.PhilippMichelReichold (talk) 14:55, 28 April 2024 (UTC)

My purpose here

is firstly to bring my original research content here. Out of gratitude for being allowed to do so, I now port articles I think worthy from Wikipedia to WikiAlpha. At the suggestion of User:WritingSnowman, I also check recent changes for capitalization problems. I thank WritingSnowman, and User:Geo Swan, and User:Mathewignash for me being able to be here. I have no interest in anything else, any personality problems, any accusations, and certainly no interest in any Wikipedia related dramaz brought here. Best, PhilippMichelReichold (talk) 02:01, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

That's all right. Original research is allowed. Also, thanks for fixing all the capitalizing mistakes in the titles of new articles. WritingSnowman (talk) 08:42, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
Yhanks. PhilippMichelReichold (talk) 09:45, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

XXBlackburnXx

has Geo Swan's imprimatur, and what suits Geo Swan suits me as well. PhilippMichelReichold (talk) 20:16, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

GeoSwan- an enigma wearing a HazMat suit holding a block button.

I wonder what GeoSwan thinks of all the chaos swirling around him. Unperturbed and unperturbable, his serenity seems untouched. Is he just not troubled by such? Is this because he secretly enjoys the dancing dramaz and is amused by the pageantry around him, so full of form and color? Or is he pained by it all but suffers silently as penance for some secret and past transgression? Is the answer more darkly hidden, his soul fallen into a tarn and there to be consumed by vile, unspeakable, Lovecraftian horrors? Or more simply, does he have the patience of a saint? user:Geo Swan. A saint I tell you. PhilippMichelReichold (talk) 19:13, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for all your help. As I told one of the recent vandals, the email user button doesn't work. But I will share my personal contact info with you.
It is a two step process. I am booledozer over on flickr.com. That flickr-ID is tied with an older email address I only check occasionally. Since it is already public I share it in the clear [email protected]. Send me an email there, putting "Wikialpha" in the subject line, and I will send you a reply from my current email address.
As for what I think... I'd love to see articles here with better references, and on topics of wider interest. Just to be clear, I am only a volunteer, not an "owner" as some vandals assume.
Thanks again! Geo Swan (talk) 22:50, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
User:Geo Swan Sourcing on WikiAlpha sounds like a bigger job than I can handle. However, one editor I would block if I had the buttons. Best. PhilippMichelReichold (talk) 09:06, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

My preferred approach...

You excised the content of User:Fb68wiki, while adding a {{db-spam}}. That is close to what User:XXBlackburnXx does. It is not my preferred approach.

I made two requests to him:

  1. If a page is written in Vietnamese, or some language other than English, I think it is better to apply {{db-language}}, not {{db-spam}}, or in addition to {{db-spam}}. It only takes a few seconds to realize a page is not written in English.
  2. I prefer to have the speedy deletion tag placed at the top of the existing material, instead of XXBlackburnXx's preferred approach of excising the questionable material.

The administrator processing the speedy deleiton request really needs to confirm, for themselves, that the page in question really does meet the CSD criteria. It is one less step if the tag is on top of the questionable material.

The administrator processing the speedy deleiton request really needs to check the page's history. If the recent versions are spam, but there is a good earlier version, the page should not be deleted, it should be reverted to good version.

An administrator can rely on the software to generate a deletion log entry, or they can explicitly specify one. XXBlackburnXx always simply excises the entire contents. And I subsequently undo those edits, restoring the questionable ocntent, with a speedy tag on top.

Then I rely on the software to generate the deletion log entry. And its default entry is the first 100 or so bytes of the article - starting with the deletion tag.

I prefer when someone else adds the tag, because, then in terms of open-ness and transparency, it is easy to see the page's record shows TWO people were concerned - the nominator and the closing admin.

Cheers! Geo Swan (talk) 01:51, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

Thanks. I confess to following XXBlackburnXx's (bad) example. I will not do so further. PhilippMichelReichold (talk) 02:40, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

Harassment and intimidation on WikiAlpha

Wikipedia has rules against treating Wikipedia as a battleground. WikiAlpha does not. XXBlackburnXx comes to remove spam from WikiAlpha, and Venerabilis is here to fight Blackburn over this. And threatens Geo Swan to intimidate him into blocking Blackburn. Ddead5 is also here to fight Blackburn, and intimidates and threatens anyone who agrees with Blackburn. What Geo Swan thinks of all this is hard to say. PhilippMichelReichold (talk) 16:11, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
