Venom (Transformers)
Venom is the name of several fictional characters from the Transformers series. The original Venom was one of the Insecticons introduced in 1985.

Transformers: Generation 1
Venom is one of the Insecticons. Will use his poisonous talents even on fellow Decepticons because he trusts no one and suspects everyone is trying to usurp his role as leader. His stinger can discharge fluids harmful to mechanical and organic life; corrosive acids, destructive catalysts, paralyzing toxins, and others. Stinger can penetrate 1/4 inch steel, but sometimes gets stuck and breaks off. Flies at 15mph for 300 miles. Carries electro-blaster in robot form.
Reception
Turning into a Cicada, Venom was named the 2nd oddest thing that G1 Transformers transform into by Topless Robot.[1]

Transformers Animated
The Venom in the Animated story is a homage to Generation 1 Venom, although he is depicted as a Decepticon. His design is based on that of Animated Blackout. His tech spec appeared on a lithograph sold at Botcon 2011.[2]
