United Nations

The United Nations is an international body founded shortly after World War Two to provide a venue for nations to discuss international issues.

Structure

All nations recognized by the United Nations have a seat in the United Nations General Assembly. Fifteen nations have seats on the United Nations Security Council. China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom and the United States, five of the leading victor nations following World War Two are the permanent members of the Security Council. They have a veto in any decision made by the security council. The remaining ten seats rotate among the remaining nations in the General Assembly.
