James ‘Trey’ Wheeler III (born 15 October) is an American football player who plays for the West Texas Warbirds in the Champions Indoor Football League. He plays at the cornerback position.[1]

During college, Trey ranked at number 7 in Division 1 in number of passes defended per game (1.500).[2]

Career

Wheeler started his football career in 2016 when he joined Independence Community College team in 2016 during third season of Last Chance U and was red-shirted due to out of state rules.

In 2017, he was transferred to Ottawa Braves Football of Ottawa University and played twenty games for the team between 2017 and 2019.[3][1] In twenty Ottawa matches, Trey completed eight interceptions, forty-seven tackles, and twenty-four pbu’s.[1] He has also captained Ottawa team.

In June 2021, he joined the West Texas Warbirds where he currently plays as cornerback.[1]
