Surtsey
From WikiAlpha
Surtsey is a volcanic island that recently emerged off the southern coast of Iceland.[1] Iceland -- and Surtsey -- lie on the mid-Atlantic Ridge. Surtsey emerged due to volcanic eruptions in 1963. Eruptions continued for three and a half years. Since then there has been erosion of the ash that composed the Island. In 2005 the Island covered 2.5 square kilometres.
