Slug is a fictional character from the Transformers series. He was introduced in 2012 as one of the Dinobots in the video game Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. Since the word "Slag" was discovered to be a swear word in the United Kingdom, Slag's name was changed to Slug. Despite the name change, he retains the same alternate mode and a similar design to his Generation 1 counterpart.

Aligned continuity family

Slug is based on the 1985 Generation 1 character Slag. He turns from humanoid robot to a mechanical Triceratops. He is a combat tactics specialist with anger issues.

Animated series

Following the restoration of Cybertron from the Great War, Slug was one of the many Autobots blacklisted by the new High Council for being a supporter of Optimus Prime.

Slug appeared in the Transformers: Fall of Cybertron comics series by IDW Publishing. In this comic Slug was a member of the Lightning Strike Coalition, under the command of Grimlock. When Swoop was captured by the Decepticon scientist Shockwave Grimlock lead the Coalition to save him. In the attempt to rescue Swoop the Coalition was overwhelmed by the Insecticons.

In Rage of the Dinobot the Dinobots helped cover the escape of the last Autobots from the dying planet Cybertron when Ultra Magnus was shot down saving Swoop. The Dinobots attempted to rescue Magnus. This resulted in the Dinobots coming into conflict with the Predacons Shockwave had created.

Slug appears among the Dinobots in the 2012 video game Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

He is among the characters available to choose from in the Escalation Mode of the 2014 video game Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark.

Slug is the savage destroyer among the Dinobots in Transformers: Age of Extinction; like his previous incarnations, he transforms into a mechanical Triceratops, only this version is spiked and bestial.

Age of Extinction film

Slug was among the legendary knights Lockdown kept prisoner aboard his ship, and was inadvertently rescued when the Autobots liberated Optimus Prime and stole a detachable section of Lockdown's ship. Optimus later freed him and the other Dinobots to request their help in defeating Galvatron's forces, and when he finished beating Grimlock into submission, Slug and the others joined the Autobots charge into Hong Kong, carrying Drift on his back. He later helped to escort the Seed to a safe location, however Lockdown returned and attempted to recapture the Dinobots and Optimus using a magnetic tractor-beam, but the Autobot leader managed to destroy it before they were caught. Once Lockdown was defeated, Optimus set the Dinobots free, and Slug and the others headed off. Like the rest of the Dinobots, he isn't referred to by name as he cannot speak. Slug will return in Transformers 5.
