Richard Barman (1999) is an International documentary photographer from Assam,India. He is best known for his black and white photographs documenting the life of Indian peoples and its social issues. Barman belives in bringing out the true face of the system both about political and social issues through his works.Barman was born in Guwahati, Assam. He got his first camera when he was 16years old and after completing 12th, he received his formal training in photography from the Delhi college of Photography before working as a curator for viewbug. Barman's work has been exhibited around the world and was recently featured in 4th Chania international photo festival, vouge and candidorange Magazines.he has said " I choose photography as a way to suppress my artistic hunger and to show true, ugly and beautiful side of society". Barman photographed celebrities such as papon, zubeen garg and Alobo naga, alongside covering documentary stories across the world. He was one of the "100 most influential Documentary photographers" alongside, raghu rai, Soumya Sankar bose as well as listed as "Top best photographers in India" according to the Artfacts and 35awards. Seeking inspiration from Magnum photos, Barman sees photography as a moment of freedom, no longer being tied down to a desired shot.
