History

Devil's Due Publishing

In G.I. Joe vs. The Transformers II, Ragnarok appeared in the third issue of the series when a group of G.I. Joe and Cobra operatives were sent into a future reality to retrieve Ratchet. There they encountered Ragnarok, a massive Decepticon who also appeared on the issue cover, before he disappeared. Other beings identical to Ragnarok also appeared in the issue.[1]

"Ask Vector Prime" later expanded on the origins of this behemoth, whom Vector Prime names "Destroyer of Worlds," and the inspiration for the Norse legend of Ragnarok. He brings destruction, but also creation, as his mutated Spark causes him to produce offspring who are complete replicas of himself in terms of memory and genetic code. These other Ragnaroks are the other giants seen in the G.I. Joe event, a grim foreboding that another Ragnarok shall always emerge. The Ragnarok featured in G.I. Joe vs. The Transformers II was forced into a pocket reality by some party-Vector Prime himself or some other noble force like the Alternity. This Ragnarok or another, trapped in a "dead-end universe," was freed by Bio Ranger Iga, and thus pledged himself to his rescuer as the Genetronic Apocalypse General, though he and his monstrous allies would meet with defeat at the hands of Dai Atlas and his allies.
