Padlock was a security guard and partner to Wing Dagger; the pair were on guard when the villainous Shockblast escaped from his cell. They followed him through Cybertron's depths to the chamber of Primus, where Padlock was captured and used as a human shield against Wing Dagger and other Autobots by Shockblast. Having made his way safely into an escape route, Shockblast released Padlock, only to cruelly shoot him as he was reunited with his comrades. This would lead Wing Dagger on a quest to bring his friend's murderer to justice, prompting his eventual rebirth as Wing Saber and pursuit of Shockblast.
