Oklahoma waterboarding incident
In March 2020 law enforcement officials reported a waterboarding incident in Oklahoma where religious parents used brutal techniques, including waterboarding to exorcise evil spirits from their children. Officials withheld names to protect the privacy of the children.[1]
When first reported, on March 19, officials had not yet filed charges, but the children had been taken under the protection of a child welfare agency.[1]
Their seven year old son took the brunt of the abuse.[1] Suspicious bruises triggered family friends to report the couple to Police. He had welts on his head and back, and bruises on her wrist. In addition to waterboarding him, and otherwise physically abusing him, his parents would drug him.[2] Press reports say he was crammed into a laundry basket, and drop-kicked.
