Molekule, Inc
Molekule, Inc. is a science and technology company headquartered in San Francisco. It designs and manufactures air purifiers that utilize the photoelectrochemical oxidation (PECO) technology, invented by Dharendra Yogi Goswami, which destroys dangerous chemicals, microbes, allergens, and other forms of air pollution at the chemical level.[1][2][3][4]
History
The company's history dates back to 1995 when Dharendra Yogi Goswami was attempting to relieve his son's debilitating asthma. In his efforts to relieve his son's suffering, Goswami came to the conclusion that the air purification solutions currently available on the market, such as HEPA air purifiers, were insufficient to remove asthma triggers from the air. With his own expertise mainly based in solar energy, Goswami turned to the same field to solve his problems. He realized a solar groundwater purification technology he was developing at the Tyndall Air-force Base for cleaning contaminated jet fuel from groundwater could be adapted to clean the air. He, therefore, started to research on how this technology could be used to purify air and improve air quality.[5][6][7]
The company was founded in 2014 under the name Transformair, and was renamed Molekule in 2016.[5][6][7]
Goswami gave this task over 20 years of academic research and registered multiple patents. Eventually, his son, Dilip took up his father's research turned from a laboratory technology to a product. Molekule units feature Photo Electrochemical Oxidation (PECO) technology, which serves to oxidize airborne pollutants.[8][9][10][11]
Molekule units are in use at Intercontinental Hotels[12] Molekule has been financed by some mainstream investors[13] including Crosslink Capital[14] and Foundry Group.[15]
