Lake Atlanta

Lake Atlanta is the name given to an artificial lake that would be a key component to the most recent plan to build a Nicaragua Canal.[1][2][3][4]

The canal route chosen in 2014 would have ocean-going ships proceed across 8,264 square kilometres natural Lake Nicaragua.[1] But the water to power the canal's locks would be drawn from a 400 square kilometres artificial lake -- Lake Atlanta. The artificial lake would be built in the vicinity of the Punta Gorda River.[5]
