The Jugurtha and a USCG cutter engaged in a joint boarding party training exercise in May 2021.

The Jugurtha is an Offshore Patrol Vessel, operated by the Tunisian Navy. She was the first of four vessels of her class, built in Romania to a design from the Damen Group.[1] The vessels were ordered in 2016, and Jugurtha was delivered in early 2016.

Design

The vessels displace 1,284 tonnes, and are 72 metres long. Their maximum speed is 20 knots, and they are 12.7 metres wide, with a draft of 3.75 metres. Their two diesel engines deliver 7,060 kilowatts.[1]

The vessels have a stern launching ramp allowing them to deploy and retrieve a pursuit boat without first coming to a full stop.[1]

Operational career

In June 2020 the Jugurtha and the Hamilcar 505 participated in training in replenishment at sea with the USS Porter.[2]

The Jugurtha participated in a joint training exercise with a pair of United States Coast Guard cutters in early May, 2021.
