J. Taylor Perron is a British geomorphologist.[1]

In 2007, when he was a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University, Perron was the lead author of a widely cited paper that said recent analysis of the planet Mars suggested it had once had a liquid water Ocean.[2][3]

In 2014 he was one of five scientists recognized with a James B. Macelwane Medal.[4] The American Geophysical Union uses the medals to recognize exceptional young scientists. Reciepients are all less than ten years from the granting of their PhD.

He was one of the 25 individuals granted MacArthur Fellowships, in 2021.[1]

As of September 2021, Perron lead a research group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[5]

Perron is a member of the editorial committee of the Annual Review of Earth and Planetary Sciences.[6]
