The original Hoist was introduced in 1985. He is a the Autobot's repairman. He spends most of his time tuning up the other Autobots.

In some continuities Hoist was to be part of a combiner team that formed Firestormer, but this never came to pass.

Development

The Marvel Comics bible for the Transformers originally called Hoist by the name Winch.[1]

The second Hoist was introduced in 2003 as the upgraded form of Smokescreen in Transformers: Armada.

Transformers live movie

The third Hoist in the Transformers is a Autobot who appeared in the 2007 Transformers video game for the Nintendo DS and the Revenge of the Fallen toy line in 2009.

Shattered Glass

This evil negative universe version of Hoist was first mentioned in the 2008 story Dungeons & Dinobots when he repaired fellow Autobot Blurr. Is he a lazy mechanic.
