The Guardians are the protagonists of the GoBots franchise and are opposed to the evil Renegades, the two being factions of the same race.

History

The Guardians were once humanoid beings on the planet Gobotron along with the Renegades, but were forced to assume robotic bodies after their world was devastated by their conflict.
