Groundbuster is a fictional character from the Transformers series. He was introduced in 1990 under the name Neutro, but Hasbro changed the name in 2014 for trademark purposes. The toy for the Aligned Continuity character of Groundpounder is also called Groundbuster and like Groundbuster transforms into a construction vehicle; whether this was intended is unknown.

Fictional biography

Construction Patrol: Powerhouses of metal and steel! Called to battle to fortify and reinforce the Autobots' front line. The first to roll in and the last to roll out. A formidable adversary when working as a team. Extremely smart and tremendously strong. Known for their ability to organize and build a towering fortress out of seemingly worthless junk. Each composed of high-density titanium steel for maximum resistance against enemy bombardment, Jet boosters under wheels provide short term flight capabilities.
Autobot Tailgate with Groundbuster: These two Autobots both have a habit of digging themselves into holes. Groundbuster will dig into almost anything that's underground, holing up there to plot his next move. Autobot Tailgate never hesitates to dig himself a hole by making up stories of his exploits. He wouldn't even stop short of claiming to be one of the original Primes, if the occasion called for it.

Comics

Dreamwave Productions

Neutro did not appear in any stories from Dreamwave Productions before the company went out of business, but he have an extended biography printed in the Transformers: More Than Meets The Eyes series. In this biography he is portrayed as a frustrated artist who has reserved himself to that fact that most of the things he had constructed will be destroyed in war.

IDW Publishing

Neutro was among the Micromasters who appeared in Spotlight: Hardhead who attacked Nightbeat and Hardhead on the planet Gorlam Prime.

Toys

Four original molds that turn from robots to construction vehicles.
Neutro turns into a bulldozer.
  • Generations Autobot Tailgate with Groundbuster (2014)
This set was initially advertised as Autobot Tailgate with Groundpounder, but the name was changed to Groundbuster.
