This was the only published photo of Allal Ab Aljallil Abd al Rahman, until wikileaks published his formerly secret dossier in April 2011. It remains the only published photo of what he looked like prior to his capture.
I suggest it is a useful image, worth claiming fair use over, for the contrast to his captivity image. Latif seems to have died of exhaustion, and the two images show the mounting stress captivity imposed on him
The Miami Herald's caption stated:
- "Yemeni captive Adnan Farhi Abdul Latif is shown in this undated photo taken before his capture in Afghanistan and January 2002 transfer to Guantanamo Bay. A judge ordered his release from the prison camps on July 21, six years after the Pentagon concluded it had no reason to hold him."
